Who monitors the Medical Alarm calls?
If you choose VRI for your Medical Alert System, fully trained professionals, as opposed to volunteers or emergency room personnel, will monitor your calls all day, every day. Each of our Care Representatives undergo an extensive 90-day training program which includes classroom and hands-on training as well as work with a mentor. They are required to pass a test at the end of the training period and participate in continuous quality improvement throughout their employment with VRI. (Back to Top)

Who will the Care Representatives send to help me?
With VRI the choice is yours. When you push the Medical Alert Button, we will send whomever you request; the rescue squad, a family member, police, etc. When you sign up with VRI we have you designate who you want your responders to be. We also have you choose “must notifies” people who cannot come to help you but need to be notified in an emergency. If you cannot answer or do not answer we will try to contact your pre-designated responders. If your responders cannot check on you within 15 minutes we will call 911. (Back to Top)

How fast can I receive service once I decide to try your Medical Alert System?
After calling in your order for a Medical Alert System, VRI needs a maximum of two working days to fully enroll you as a member. VRI can send out your system within 1 business day of ordering once you have received your system we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to help you set up your system. May the Medical Alert Button be used even if the paramedics are not needed?
VRI encourages members to press their Medical Alert Button before something goes wrong. If a stranger knocks at your door you can press your Medical Alert Button and our monitors will stand by until the stranger leaves, or they can send the police. If you need to go outside to get your mail during inclement weather, you can press your Medical Alert Button and our monitors will be happy to help you. Anytime you feel your safety may be threatened, you are urged to press your Medical Alert Button. When you need us, we are there for you. (Back to Top)

Are there any Fall Prevention features included with the Medical Alert Service?
Remote answering features are available on some of VRI’s medical alert equipment. Remote answering is designed to keep members from rushing around the home to answer incoming phone calls. Say, for instance, you just sat down to watch television or read and your phone rings. Instead of getting up and rushing to the phone before the caller hangs up, you can remain seated. By simply pressing your Medical Alert Personal Help Button, you will be able to speak with the caller. It is thanks to this Fall Prevention feature that VRI members are less likely to fall from rushing to the phone. (Back to Top)

Can the Medical Alert Button be worn at all times?
VRI urges members to wear their Personal Help Button at all times. Our attractive Medical Alert Buttons are extremely lightweight and can be worn around the wrist or neck. We even offer a special Medical Alert Button that resembles a piece of jewelry. All VRI medical alert buttons are waterproof so they can be worn in the bath or shower. (Back to Top)

What is the range of the Medical Alert System?
The range of VRI Medical Alert System varies from home to home based on layout and construction. Our home service representative will do a range test to ensure your Medical Alert Button will work throughout your home and anywhere else you would like to test.

What kind of payment plans do you offer?

Do I have to subscribe for a minimum period of time if I choose VRI as my Medical Alert Service provider?

Will my help call go out if my phone is off the hook or I am on the internet?
If the phone connected to your communicator is off the hook, the call will go out without any problems. If an extension phone is in use or you are on the Internet, a special phone jack is needed in order to seize the phone line for your help call. VRI offers this phone jack at a small additional charge. (Back to Top)

If my power goes out will the Medical Alert Unit still work?
Your VRI Medical Alert Unit has a back-up battery that works during power outages. Once your power is restored, the battery will recharge to prepare for the future power disruptions. There is no need for an annual replacement of the battery. If your phone services requires power to operate and is unavailable during and outage, your Medical Alert Unit will be unable to contact the Care Center. (Back to Top)
