Why is a Pill Dispenser so important?

1. Almost 30% of all hospital admissions for people over the age of 65 are directly attributable to medication non-adherence.
2. 125,000 people die each year from non-adherence, twice the number killed in automobile accidents.
3. Poor adherence with medication regiments costs society $150 billion per year.
4. Nearly $48 billion in annual costs result from unnecessary medication-induced hospitalization.
5. Approximately 40% of people entering nursing homes do so because they are unable to self-medicate in their own homes.
6. About one-half of the 1.8 billion prescriptions dispensed annually are not taken correctly, contributing to prolonged or additional illnesses.
7. At the present time, more than 7 million households have an unpaid "care-giver" who is providing daily assistance to a family member age 50 or older.
